岩槻城
Iwatsuki Castle

◎埼玉県指定史跡：岩槻（岩付）城跡　

かつて岩槻城は、別名「白鶴城」とも呼ばれ県内三名城のひとつと言われていた。岩槻城は室町時代の末頃（15世紀中頃）に築かれたと言われている。
江戸時代には、江戸北方の守りの要として重要視され、戦国時代の末期には大幅に拡張されました。本丸・二の丸・三の丸などの城の中心部にある主郭部、その周辺を囲む沼の北岸に位置する新曲輪部、南岸に位置する新曲輪部の3ブロックから構成されていました。　さらに城の西側及び南側の一帯には武家屋敷と町屋、寺社地などからなる城下町が形成・配置され、その周囲を巨大な土塁と堀からなる大構が取り囲んでいました。
この岩槻公園あたりは、そのうちの新曲輪部分にあたっており、その部分が埼玉県史跡に指定されています。

【岩槻城：城門】（旧・岩槻市指定有形文化財：建物）

この門は、岩槻城の城門と伝えられる門である。岩槻城内での位置は明らかではないが、木材部分が黒く塗られていることから「黒門」の名で親しまれている。
門扉の両側に小部屋を付属させて長屋門で、幅約13ｍ、奥行約3.7ｍである。
屋根は寄棟造で、瓦葺き、廃藩置県に伴う岩槻城廃止により、城内より撤去されたが、昭和45年に城跡のこの地に移築された。この間、埼玉県庁や件知事公舎の正門、岩槻市役所の通用門などとして
利用された。

【岩槻城：裏門】（旧・岩槻市指定有形文化財：建物）

この門は、岩槻城の城門である。岩槻城の裏門と伝えられるが、城内での位置は明らかではない。現状では、門扉を付けた木柱と、後方の控柱で屋根を支える薬医門形式となっている。間口約3ｍ、奥行約2ｍであり、向かって左側袖塀に門扉潜り戸を付属している。
屋根は切妻造で瓦葺き。昭和55年に民間から寄贈されてこの地に移築された。

【岩槻藩：遷喬館】

遷喬館は、江戸時代後期の寛政十一年（1799）に岩槻藩の学者・児玉南柯が青少年の教育のために創立した学塾で、後に藩校となった。
最盛期には、梅林を伴った構台な敷地の中に、武芸稽古所、菅原道真を祀る菅神廟（天神社）、南柯の自宅「梅亭」、竹山ｎ・池泉、展望台などが設けられていまし
た。
現存する建物は、遷喬館の学舎（校舎）として使用されていたもので、十五畳と九畳とからなる二間続きの教場を備えています。
江戸時代には、全国に多くの藩校がありましたが、県内において保存されている藩校は遷喬館が唯一のもので、埼玉県の文化財（史跡）に指定されている。

Saitama Prefecture Designated Historic Site: Iwaki (rock) Castle Ruins

Iwatsuki Castle was once also known as one of the three prestigious castles in the prefecture, also known as "White Tsurugajo". It is said that Iwatsuki Castle was built at the end of the Muromachi period (around the middle of the 15th century).
In the Edo period, emphasis was placed on the protection of Northern Edo and it was greatly expanded at the end of Warring States Period. It consisted of three blocks, the main section located in the center of the castle such as Honmaru, Ninomaru and Sannaru, the new tuned wheel section located on the north bank of the swamp surrounding the castle, and the new tuned wheel section located on the south coast. In addition, castle towns composed of samurai residences, town shops, temples and shrines were formed and arranged in the western and southern part of the castle, and the surrounding area was surrounded by a large structure consisting of a huge base and a moat.
The area around this Iwatsuki Park corresponds to the new part of the ring, which part is designated as Saitama prefecture historic site.

【Iwatsuki Castle: castle gate】 (Old · Iwatsuki City Designated Tangible Cultural Property: Building)

This gate is the gate which is reported as the castle gate of Iwatsuki castle. Although the position in Iwatsuki castle is not clear, it is familiar with the name of "Kuromon" because the wood part is painted black.
With a small room attached to both sides of the gate, at Nagayamon, it is about 13 m in width and 3.7 m in depth.
