【蜻蛉の地元：与野夏祭り】

宝永年間（1704～1711）から続いていると言われている歴史有るお祭りです。町の随所で威勢良く神輿が回転されるが、古くは農村地区であった、このあたりに疫病が
蔓延し、その厄払いとして神輿の霊威を高めるために始められた。与野は1889年、それぞれの町村が集まって、与野町が誕生した。その後、市町村合併などにより与野市⇒さいたま市⇒さいたま市中央区（2003年政令指定都市への移行による）と呼び名が変わり、現在では「与野」という地名は消滅した。
与野夏祭りは、かつては「けんか神輿」と言われるほど激しい活気に溢れ、お互いにぶつかり合いながら、その勇ましさを競った。
　　「与野」の地名は、鎌倉時代末の絵巻に「武蔵国与野郷」とあるのが初見とされる。　通称、与野本町と呼ばれる地区は、古くは鎌倉街道の上道と中道とを結ぶ羽根倉道上に位置し、室町時代から市場の町として栄えた。江戸時代には甲州街道日野宿と、中山道、奥州街道とを
結ぶ脇往還の人馬継立場として、また中山道浦和宿と川越と結ぶ、川越浦和道の経由地として、江戸や周辺地域からの商品物資集散地としての機能を有していた。

It is a historical festival that is said to continue since Hoei years (1704 - 1711). A shrine is rotated all at once in every part of the town, but in old days it was a rural district, plague comes around here
It began to spread, and to raise the spirit of a mikoshi as its exorcism. Yono gathered together the towns and villages in 1889, Yono cho was born. After that, due to mergers with municipalities, etc., Yono City ⇒ Saitama City ⇒ Saitama City Chuo-ku (due to the transition to a government-designated city in 2003) has changed its name and now the name "Yono" has disappeared.
The Yono Summer Festival was full of fierce vigor to be said as "a fake shrine" once, and competed with each other for confrontation while hitting each other.
The place name of "Yono" is first seen as "Musashi country Yono Town" in the picture scroll at the end of the Kamakura period. Commonly known as Yonomoto Town, the district is located on the wingshoe road linking the upper road and the middle road of the Kamakura Road in old days, prospered as a market town from the Muromachi Period. In the Edo era, Koshu Kaido Nichihonjuku, Nakasendo, Oshu Kaido
As a bypassing straddling horse riding place, as a via point of Kawagoe Urawa way, connecting with Nakasendo Urawa Inn and Kawagoe, had a function as a point of distribution of goods from Edo and neighboring areas.
