【梅園の歴史と概要】
熱海梅園は、内務省の初代衛生局長であった長興専斎の堤唱を受けた横浜の豪商・茂木惣兵衛が私財を投じて、明治１９年に開園したのが始まりです。
溫泉がよく病気に効くのは、ただその中に含まれている塩分や鉄分にばかり頼らず、適当な運動をするからである。もし、一日室内にいて溫泉に入浴していたら飽きもし、疲れもして、養生にならない。そして、かねてより見つけていた場所に草木を伐採し、穢れを流し、地形にならって梅３０００株や松・杉・楓・柳を植栽した。　梅を最も多く植えたので、「茂木氏梅園」といわれる。
茂木氏は豪商であり、私財を投じてこの事業をおこない、それを私することなく大衆のために開放した。
平成２９年より篤志家の寄付によるリニューアル工事（早咲き梅の活性化や生育環境の改善）が行われ、梅や紅葉が見やすくなり、「日本一早咲きの梅」、「日本一遅い紅葉」に相応しい公園に生まれ変わった。

【History and outline of plum garden】

【蝋梅】
ロウバイは、花の色や光沢がロウ細工のようなところがあり、その名がつけられた。
蜜蝋に似た黄色く可愛い、香り高い花を咲かせる。中国原産の高さ2～4ｍ位の落葉低木です。江戸時代の初期に日本へ渡来したと言われる。
春の到来が近いことを感じます。

【鹿児島紅梅】
鹿児島紅梅は、濃い紅色が美しい紅梅の代表的品種です。十分に受粉が行われれば結実しますが、普通の梅に比べると小さく、固い。梅酒にしても、普通の梅に比べて味は劣るそうです。鹿児島紅梅は花梅ですので、可愛らしい花を観賞しましょう。

【ジョウビタキ・メス】
ジョウビタキは、日本では冬に良く見られる渡り鳥です。近年渡来する数が増えている
そうです。体長は14～15㎝で、雀よりわずかに小さい。
オスは頭上が白く、目の周りが黒いのが特徴。メスは頭が淡褐色でオスとは簡単に見分け
がつく。胸から腹、尾にかけては、ともに橙色をしており、翼は黒褐色だが、中ほどに
白くて細長い斑点がある。

Wax plum

[Kagoshima Red plum
Kagoshima Red Meishi is a typical variety of red plums with a deep red color beautiful.
It will be fruit if pollination is done sufficiently, but it is small and hard compared to ordinary plums.Even if it is a plum wine, the taste seems to be inferior to ordinary plums.
Since Kagoshima red plum is flower plum, let's see pretty flowers.

【Giubitaki · female】
Giubitaki is a migratory bird often seen in winter in Japan. The number to be crowded in recent years is increasing
That's right. The length is 14 ~ 15 cm, slightly smaller than the sparrow.
Male is characterized by white overhead, black around the eyes. Female head is light brown, easy to distinguish from male
Clinging. Between the chest and the belly, the tail, both are orange, the wings are dark brown, but in the middle
There are white and long spots.

【熱海城】

熱海市の錦ヶ浦山頂にある模擬城です。　歴史的に実在したものではありません。梅園でユックリしてしまったので熱海城まで行くことは諦めました。（シーズンで道も混んでおりました）
来宮駅で山頂にその姿が見えました。結構距離が有りますが望遠レンズで撮影しました。少しモヤがかかった様になりましたが、山城風な姿は逆に側に行かず遠景の方が良かったのかも知れません。
1959年に海抜100ｍの位置に建てられた、外観五重、内部九階の天守閣風の建物です。

【熱海桜】

「あたみ桜」は、明治初期にイタリア仁の手によって、熱海に伝わったと言われています。「あたみ桜糸川桜まつり」は、糸川の遊歩道沿いを中心に開催されています。

【Atami Castle】

It is a simulated castle at the top of the Ninigaura mountain in Atami. It is not historically real. I gave up going to Atami castle because I was surprised at the plum garden. (The road was also crowded in the season)
I could see the figure at the summit at Komiya station. I have taken a picture with a telephoto lens though it is quite a distance. It seemed like a little bit touched, but the appearance of a mountain castle might not have been going to the side but the far view might be better.
Built at 100 meters above sea level in 1959, it is a 5-storey exterior and a castle tower-like building with nine inner stories.

Atami cherry tree

It is said that "Atami Sakura" was transmitted to Atami by the hand of Italian jin in the early Meiji Period. "Atami Sakura-yami river cherry-blossom festival" is held mainly on the Itukawa's promenade.
